At Play
We used to list hobbies or interests in resumes, but I suppose we're all too serious and busy now, so our lives have to fit on a page. As a managing editor, I was intrigued by someone who listed "playing the accordion" or "juggling" in addition to the usual "books, music, movies," not that such details helped me choose or exclude a candidate, but it certainly warmed the handshake and broke the ice before an interview.
I believe it's important to play as hard as you work. Sometimes it takes a kid to make us do this. I enjoy the creative, physical, and exploratory. Besides glass fusion, I enjoy drumming, cooking, traveling, hiking (walking with water and nuts), as well as hearing about what other people like to do. And, of course, goofing with the kids.
